Abstract: The present invention describes the development of a novel, tumor epithelial cell and tumor- associated macrophage (TAM)-targeting, blood brain barrier (BBB) crossing glucose-based nanospheres (CSP). For targeted killing of tumor cells and TAM within glioma tumor milieu, CSP is tagged with sigma receptor (SR)-targeted ligand H8 to form CSP-H8 or CH8. H8 molecule is earlier developed from neuropsychotic drug haloperidol (HP) by conjugating cationic lipid to HP. H8 is an anti-proliferative agent that kills SR-expressing tumor cells. CH8 exhibits effective reduction of brain associated tumor lesions and increased survivability of in situ glioma bearing mice.. The product thus shows CSP-based dual strategy of targeting and killing pro-tumorigenic, SR-expressing tumor associated cells and exemplifies repurposing of neurophyschotic drugs for treating brain tumor.

Abstract: The current invention relates to development of new formulation containing gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with bi-functional recombinant fusion proteins TRAF(C) for the delivery of anticancer drugs and nucleic acids to HER2+ cancers. Using the combinatorial approach, gold nanoparticle-based targeted drug delivery system (TDDS) or (Au-TR-DX-si) has been developed by combining AuNPs with bi-functional recombinant fusion protein TRAF(C) (TR), doxorubicin (DX) and siRNA (si).In addition, the engineered fusion protein TRAF(C) has the ability to target selectively to HER2+ receptors (heregulin receptors also, known as human, epidermal growth factor, receptor-2) overexpressed in ovarian cancer cells (SK-OV-3). The functional activity of the nanoformulation was further evaluated both in vitro and in vivo. Intraperitoneal administration of this formulation in SK-OV-3 xenograft nude mice exhibited significant suppression of tumor growth due to co-delivery of ErbB2 siRNA and doxorubicin. In vivobiodistribution confirmed increased accumulation of gold in tumor tissue which further established the targeting property of the nanoconjugation. Based on these studies, we strongly believe that the nanomedicine-based formulation could be developed as a universal strategy for effective treatment of HER2+ cancers.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the design of a face mask that incorporates a waste derived warp knit polyethylene terephthalate (PET) permeate spacer layer for daily usage in current pandemic conditions. The central layer in the face masks is a selective hydrophobic layer that is recycled from waste RO membrane modules and is intended for usage as a non-medicated multi-layered face mask for common man. The mechanical strength and shape holding capability enables the preparation of the face mask in a unique 3D shape that extends from the nose bridge to the chin, leaving an air gap between the mouth and the inner layer of the face mask. Design advantage obtained by the incorporation of the PET layer enables smooth facial movements and hindrance free speaking. The 3D folding feature of the mask is seamless and fits snug on the user’s face that which prevents spectacle fogging and chances of infections.

Abstract: The present invention discloses the compact design of low-cost membrane process for the production of demineralized (DM) water. The demineralization process in the present invention is related to the cascaded high-flux and high-selective membrane system for hyper permeation which is operated under the pressure of 3-7 kg/cm2 to generate DM water with total dissolved solids (TDS) of 0-2 ppm, with the option of post treatment by a mixed bed ion exchange resin column for further enhancement in resistivity of the ultrapure water. The present invention of DM water system is designed for a capacity in the range of 25-70 L/h capacity and its salient features include compact design of the membrane assembly with higher effective membrane area per unit volume to ensure higher DM water recovery at relatively lower pressure compared to the existing reverse osmosis (RO) membrane system. The process pertaining to the present invention is more economical and effective compared to the conventional demineralization processes and also the more expensive demineralization membrane units currently available in the market. The embodiment of the present invention is related to the compact and efficient configuration of the membrane modules for DM water production useful for several biotechnological, biochemical, medical and industrial applications.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the design and development of a hydrodynamic cavitation based reactor for processing of liquid food products to extend the shelf life with better taste and nutritional quality. The cavitation reactor comprises of a stator-rotor arrangement where the cavitator is fixed with a shaft to rotate and the outer jacket is fixed. The rotating cavitator has been designed at two different configurations; one having a hyperbolic dumbbell like shape with multiple in-depth indentations made on the surface for creating pressure drop and the other is in a tapered cylindrical shape with multiple holes grooved on the surface for causing pressure drop and cavitation bubble formation. . The CFU test was carried out to see the impact of treatment on spoilage bacterial growth. Also the changes in physicochemical properties and major metabolites present in the coconut water were measured through NMR study before and after treatment. The entire assembly provides an attractive and potential route for non-thermal sterilization of various liquid food products without much complicacy in the design and that can be easily retrofitted to any existing food processing industrial operations.

Abstract: An electrolyser and method of the present invention comprises electrodes made of titanium with perforations, arranged parallel and equidistant from the center of an electrolytic ionized water producer. An inlet is provided to the ionizer at centre of electrodes on the top position. All the parallel electrodes are enclosed leak proof in a rectangular container with two outlets on opposite sides and electrical connections from variable power supply source to the device. The water is introduced into the centre of the ionizer from the top. The charged electrodes ionize the water and produce alkaline ionized water at cathode and acidic ionized water at anode. Acidic ionized water and alkaline ionized water are collected separately from the electrolyser.

Abstract: The present invention provides a sequential high rate acidogenic anaerobic reactor (100) incorporating pre-treatment process (SHAARP) for production of mixture of bioethanol and VFA by treatment of the organic waste. It uses the sugars and COD available in the organic waste. SHAARP is a horizontal plug flow digester with different compartments and baffles allowing the slurry to flow across the digester. In each compartment of the digester important chemical and microbial reactions viz: thermal acidic hydrolysis, microbial anaerobic acidogenesis takes to yield the final product either mixture of bio-ethanol and VFA or VFA based on the characteristics of the organic solid waste. CO2 generated in the digester is reused for mixing as well as acidification of the digester for higher yield of desired product.
